Employment & Volunteer Opportunities
At Aaron’s Acres, staff and volunteers make it possible for children, teens, and adults with disabilities (ages 5–40) to experience community and joy all year long.

Ways to Join the Team
Whether you’re looking for a paid position or a meaningful volunteer role, we’d love to have you on the team!
Group Leaders – Paid Staff
Group Leaders oversee a small group of participants and the counselors and buddies who support them. You’ll:
- Encourage independence and celebrate progress throughout the session
- Supervise and support your team while keeping participants engaged and safe
- Help plan and lead activities
Counselors – Paid Staff
Counselors work directly with participants during camp and school-year programs. You’ll:
- Encourage each child or young adult to participate as fully as possible
- Provide hands-on support with activities and personal care, while fostering independence
- Partner with your group to help plan program activities and keep things running smoothly
Preferred qualifications include study in social work, special education, occupational therapy, psychology, or similar fields, and completion of required child clearances.
Buddies – Teen Volunteers
Buddies are high-school volunteers who are paired with participants and work hand-in-hand with staff.
- Ages 14–17
- Help participants take part in activities and transitions
- Build friendships, break down barriers, and gain a new perspective on life with different abilities

What You’ll Be a Part Of
Aaron’s Acres offers year-round, therapeutically based recreational programs for individuals with disabilities ages 5–40, in a supportive environment that builds social and communication skills for participants and their families.

Programs with paid positions and volunteer opportunities
- Summer Camp (mid-June–early August) for ages 5–21 and 22-40 with activities like swimming, horseback riding, games, music, art, and more.
- School Year Program (monthly evenings) for children and adolescents ages 5–21.
- Adult recreation programs such as Social Scene, Kindness Konnections, Adult Sports League, Chuckie Magee Flag Football & Cheerleading, Dramability Works, and family cooking, art, and fitness classes.
Our programs use low staff-to-participant ratios often 1:1 or 1:2 for ages 5-21 and 1:4 for ages 22-40, so every person can be included and supported.
