INCENTIVE PROGRAM

We have created an incentive program. Provided you have completed your contracted employment, you will receive your qualifying incentive(s) on or before September 1st. Details below:

  • $250 refer (former staff, referring new staff)
  • $150 application submitted by February 15th
  • $250 for returning staff
  • $400 ½ day multiple sessions
  • $650 all day, two sessions
  • $1000 all day, three sessions

Wednesday, June 5th from 6:00pm until 9:00pm
Saturday, June 8th from 9:30am-2:00pm

Staff Orientation is MANDATORY. You MUST be able to attend the Orientation meeting and all dats of program for the session(s) you wish to work. Please review the program dates and Staff Orientation dates before applying.

For all new staff to Aaron’s Acres, a face-to-face interview with our Program Director is required. Staff must also submit clearances (PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal, and FBI Criminal—run through Dept. of Human Services NOT Education).


Group Leader

The Group Leader will have an extremely active role in the school year and camp programs.

The responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
• Supervise and support several counselors and buddies within his/her assigned group
• Supervise and assist participants assigned to the small group
• Motivate and encourage the group members and staff as they participate in all activities
• Oversee the small group at all times while reinforcing the daily schedule for the participants
• Responsible, along with her/his staff, to help plan the summer programs
• Manage and monitor the goals and outcomes of the children during the program sessions

Job qualifications include the following:
• Preferred study in special education, social work, psychology with a focus on children with disabilities
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in working with children who have disabilities
• Required child clearances must be provided prior to start of session

Counselor

The Counselor will have an extremely active role in the school year and camp programs.

The responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
• Encourage and motivate each child to participate as much as possible in the various activities at program (and encouraging as much independence as possible)
• Ensure that children within group are safe at all times by providing ongoing supervision to children (within group)
• Responsible along with other staff within group to help plan the summer programs
• Provide appropriate feedback to group leader in order to monitor the goals and outcomes of the children during the program sessions

Preferred qualifications include the following:
• Undergraduate students studying social work, special education, music therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychology or other related field
• Required child clearances must be provided prior to start of session

Buddy

(This is a volunteer position for high school students.)

Students between ages 14-17 volunteer to be “buddies” for the children with disabilities. Each buddy is paired with a child and works hand in hand with the professional staff. The Buddy’s job is to act as a positive role model.

– Buddies help staff with the children, but more importantly, Buddies gain an experience and perspective on the life of a child who has disabilities.
– Barriers are broken down, fears that some of the typical children have of those with disabilities fade away, and friendships develop among children and adolescents with all different abilities.
