Supporting Families Through Legal Planning Assistance

At Aaron’s Acres, our mission has always been to provide meaningful, inclusive programs for children and young adults with disabilities. Equally important to our mission is the commitment to supporting their families—offering resources, respite, and opportunities to connect with others navigating similar experiences.

In September, we were honored to receive a grant from the Lancaster Law Foundation to further strengthen the support we provide to families. Through this funding, we hosted a legal services event in collaboration with the Lancaster Bar Association. Generously, several attorneys volunteered their time to meet individually with ten of our families for 30-minute consultations. These sessions served as an introduction to essential topics such as guardianship, special needs trusts, and long-term care planning—areas that are often complex but critical to consider.

Following the event, families were invited to continue working with these attorneys. Thanks to the Lancaster Law Foundation’s generous grant, Aaron’s Acres is able to offer six scholarships of $500 each to help offset legal fees associated with future planning.

We recognize that planning for the future—especially when it involves legal and financial considerations—can feel overwhelming. However, addressing these matters proactively, before a crisis arises, is essential. With proper planning, families can ensure their loved ones are supported and cared for according to their wishes.

This initiative allowed families to take that often difficult first step. Our hope is that these conversations will continue, empowering families with the knowledge and confidence needed to make informed decisions. Having a clear plan in place can bring peace of mind—something that is vital as families continue their journey of caring for children and young adults with diverse abilities.
