Weather warm is in the air and summer is just around the corner!

It’s a great time to gather with family and friends. Here are some activities you can do with children. They can easily be modified for a variety of ages and some can even be held outside. Minute to Win It Games are the perfect group activity for get-togethers! They are quick and often don’t require many supplies you don’t already have at home.

Spring Minute to Win It Games

What can you do in 60 seconds?

GAME #1: Spoon the Eggs

SUPPLIES:

  • Bowls
  • Plastic eggs or ping pong balls
  • Spoon

DIRECTIONS:

  • Fill a bowl with plastic eggs or ping pong balls.
  • Use a spoon to transfer the plastic eggs or ping pong balls to an empty bowl.
  • You have 60 seconds to see how many plastic eggs or balls you can move from one bucket to another!

NOTES: Use 2 small bowls per child or, if you have an extra large bowl or bucket, have a few children work together to move the eggs from one bucket to another. You can have participants hold the spoon in their mouths, as shown, or hold the spoon in their hands depending on the group’s abilities.

GAME #2: Egg Rescue

SUPPLIES:

  • Plastic eggs
  • Duct tape or string
  • Basket or bowl
  • Large Spoons

DIRECTIONS:

  • Place tape or string back and forth over a basket or bowl. Make sure to crisscross and overlap the tape or string to create “pockets” or holes where you can pull out the plastic eggs.
  • Scoop the plastic eggs out of the basket or bowl without hitting the tape or string.
  • You have 60 seconds to see how many plastic eggs you can collect without hitting the tape or string!

NOTES: If you don’t have a basket or bowl, a large bin works great! Any kind of large spoon works for this activity – wooden spoon, serving spoon, ladle, etc.

GAME #3: Lay the Egg

SUPPLIES:

  • Balloons, balls or plastic eggs
  • Tape
  • Basket or bucket

DIRECTIONS:

  • Create a small track with tape to mark the “lane”.
  • Place a bucket or basket at each end.
  • Carry a small balloon, ball or plastic egg between your legs through the tape track.
  • Drop the item in the bucket or basket as quickly as possible, without dropping it.
  • You have 60 seconds to see how many items you can move from one end of the track to the other without dropping them!

NOTES: The difficulty of this activity will change based on the items you choose and the track you create. You can always create a longer track or one with twists and turns. Larger items will be easier to hold in place but make it harder to move through the track. Smaller items will make it easier to move through the track but will be harder to hold in place.

GAME #4: Transfer the Balls

SUPPLIES:

  • Plastic eggs or balls
  • Bowls or baskets

DIRECTIONS:

  • Fill a bowl, bucket or bin with plastic eggs or balls.
  • Using your feet to pick up the balls, transfer the plastic eggs or balls from one bucket to another.
  • You have 60 seconds to see how many plastic eggs or balls you can move from one bucket to another!

NOTES: You can provide each child their own set of buckets or use one extra large bucket filled with plastic eggs or balls for multiple children.
