The Aaron’s Acres Angels is a group of dedicated teenagers, ages 12-17, that meet throughout the year and hold fundraising events to support Aaron’s Acres programming. They also have the opportunity to visit School Year Program and Summer Camp.

This group is led by its members with support from a parent volunteer and Aaron’s Acres’ Director of Development & Community Relations.

What is it like to be a part of the Aaron’s Acres Angels? Why join this group of teens? We want to share with you some of the things our current Aaron’s Acres Angels had to say:

Why did you decide to join the Angels group?

So for a bit of a time reference, I joined the Angels group a year ago and then after being in the group for a bit, I decided to become a buddy at Aaron’s Acres Camp. I joined the Angels because I wanted to learn more about Aaron’s Acres and get more involved. I knew that I would be able to help without feeling too pressured, but, after learning more about Aaron’s Acres, I decided to become a buddy and further my involvement in Aaron’s Acres. 

What do you like about it?

First thing is that I get to meet other amazing teenagers that want to help out the same organization that I do. Also, I enjoy how the group is mostly teen driven, especially this year. The adults let the teens create and come up with ideas on how to support and help Aaron’s Acres. This allows for lots of creative thinking and amazing fundraiser ideas! I also like how it is not too much of a commitment, but we manage to make an impact that is meaningful. I have a lot going on in my life from school to sports to other extracurriculars, so I enjoy being able to help my community without it feeling like a burden to me. 

What would you want others to know about this group?

I would want other people to know that this group is a judgement-free zone. Nobody is going to judge you or the ideas you have. We all have one goal; to help support Aaron’s Acres in any way we can. Anyone is welcomed, and if you are worried about the commitment you can always talk to the advisors and figure something out. The Angels group is a fun way to meet new people and help out the community.

Why did you decide to join the Angels group?

I wanted to join AAA because I thought that doing something new and helpful to others would be interesting and a different experience.

What do you like about it?

So far, I like the fact that we can do all these fun activities with the kids so they can have a good time having fun and we have fun helping them. 

What would you want others to know about this group?

I would want others to know that it really isn’t too time consuming. A lot of people would probably assume that things like this would take a ton of time, but it really just requires planning. Even if you didn’t want to plan and just wanted to help, it’s possible you could and it really would be a help and no where near as time consuming as any school event.
