November Program Activity Idea: Turkey Donut

Here is a fun and colorful treat from November School Year Program that allows you to practice skills like sorting, color matching, and pattern making!

Turkey Donut Treat & Activity

Ingredients & Supplies

  • Mini Glazed Donuts
  • Fruit Loops Cereal (or other colored O-shaped cereal)
  • Candy Eyes
  • Toothpicks

Directions

  1. Prepare your supplies. Lay out your mini glazed donuts on a tray.
  2. To make the feathers, you are going to thread Fruit Loops cereal (or other colored O-shaped cereal) onto toothpicks.
  3. Place 4 toothpicks about a half inch apart on each donut.
  4. Then fill each toothpick with Fruit Loops.
  5. You can have one color per tooth pick or make a pattern!
  6. Push one orange Fruit Loop into the front of each donut as the beak.
  7. Break some red Fruit Loops in half and push them in next to the beaks to represent the wattle.
  8. Place two eyes right above the beak and wattle. Push them in hard enough that they stick.
  9. Now your turkey is ready to go!

Notes

  • You can use icing to make eyes instead of using edible eyes.
  • Use this as an opportunity to practice sorting, color matching, pattern making, etc.
